Updated: Dec 1, 2021

Rico Lopez, one of the first guests on Can’t Feel the Heat joins co-hosts Tom Nash and Vanessa Franko, to talk about new festival Day Trip and the connection with artists from Coachella. Note: We recorded this before Day Trip announced the move to San Bernardino.

In this episode:

  • Goldenvoice is bringing back Just Like Heaven and Cruel World next year, with so many Coachella artists. Plus, Once Upon a Time in LA is coming to town in December.

  • New festival Day Trip is happening this weekend with a lot of former Coachella artists and the festival has had some changes

  • We talk about the genius of funklordz Chromeo, including their “Quarantine Casanova” EP and what we really wanted to hear more of on their new live album.

  • Nora En Pure is magical and her music almost spiritual.

  • Diplo is a renaissance man and we talk about his trips to Coachella as a solo artist and with Major Lazer, plus Stagecoach and a recent documentary about his time in Cuba.

  • Did you know without DJ Tchami, we wouldn’t have “Turn Down For What”? We also talk about the time he turned the Sahara Tent into a cathedral at Coachella.

  • We talk about who we loved on the 2020 lineup, including Rage Against the Machine, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, City Girls and Chicano Batman.
